The safest choice is for each person to use a separate card. Paying for a group with one card can limit transfer discounts, especially when connecting to the subway.

Tap when getting off even if you will not transfer. A missed exit tap can cause an extra fare or break your next transfer discount.

Check your AREX train type
Transit cards work on the All-Stop Train. The reserved-seat Express Train between the airport and Seoul Station needs a separate ticket.

Many transit-card sellers and reload machines do not accept foreign-issued cards. Carrying Korean won cash is the most reliable option.

To receive child or youth public-transport fares, register the cardholder’s date of birth at a convenience store when buying the card.

Live on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island
Starting a timer in the app or widget automatically shows the remaining time on the Lock Screen. On supported iPhone models, the countdown also appears in Dynamic Island at the top of the screen.
If it does not appear, go to Settings → Apps → HWANTA → Live Activities. Dynamic Island is available only on supported models.

Live on the Android Lock Screen and status bar
When a timer starts, an ongoing countdown notification stays visible on the Lock Screen and notification shade. Supported Android 16 devices can also show a live status chip in the status bar.
If it does not appear, allow notifications in Settings → Apps → Transit Timer. The live status chip requires Android 16 and a supported device.

You can review the policy status for 159 cities and counties. Timers are available where an official transfer window or fare-free transit policy is confirmed; areas with unpublished details or policies needing separate confirmation are clearly marked.
Does the timer work offline?
Yes. The core timer and transfer history stored on your device work offline. Exchange-rate updates and anonymous operational analytics need a network, but a failed request never interrupts the timer.
How do I add the Home Screen widget?
Touch and hold an empty area on the iPhone or Android Home Screen, find HWANTA in the widget list, and add it. Set your area to start a timer directly from a transfer-type button.
Can I see the timer on the Lock Screen?
Yes. iPhone shows it on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island on supported models. Android shows an ongoing countdown notification on the Lock Screen and notification shade, with a live status chip on supported Android 16 devices.
